MEET TED
Ted Munyer is the creative force behind The Handpan Project, a Chicago based artist redefining the handpan through cinematic soundscapes, intricate rhythms, and contemporary production. He blends the instrument's organic resonance with immersive electronic textures to create emotionally compelling performances. Showcasing one of the world's newest instruments—first developed in Switzerland in 2001—Ted introduces audiences to a modern musical experience that is both innovative and deeply captivating.
Drawing from over 25 years of musical exploration across world music, Ted is formally trained in Jazz, Rock, Classical Indian and Contemporary World percussion and has cultivated a style that is unmistakably his own. Every composition and live performance is driven by rhythm and inspired by the belief that music has the power to slow time, awaken curiosity, and foster genuine human connection. His performances invite audiences into a space where technical precision meets heartfelt expression, transforming each moment into a shared experience.
Ted's music has resonated with audiences around the world, with performances throughout North America and Europe. Notably, he performed at the GLN Summit, a sold out event where his music reached more than 7,000 attendees in person and a global broadcast audience exceeding 250,000 viewers.
Recognized internationally as a Artist / Brand Ambassador for MAG Instruments from Budapest, Hungary, Ted proudly represents one of the world's premier handpan makers while contributing to the continued evolution of the instrument on the global stage and as an educator. Through original compositions, immersive live performances, and a relentless pursuit of artistic growth, he is helping shape a new chapter in contemporary handpan music.
Whether performing beneath festival skies, in intimate listening rooms, or on the stages of world-class venues, The Handpan Project offers more than a concert—it offers an invitation to pause, listen deeply, and experience the extraordinary possibilities of rhythm, melody, and sound.
